It’d be nice to spend Sunday relaxing, completing a few household chores and devoting time to your hobbies. But unfortunately, the concept of a relaxing Sunday seems to be a waning idea.
Instead, 80% of professionals report feeling anxious or depressed on Sunday as they worry about the upcoming workweek. This anxiety – nicknamed the “Sunday Scaries” –– is reported in higher numbers among Gen Z and millennials, but has been reported in every generation currently working.
Truth is, it’s hard to establish a healthy work/life balance when it’s getting harder to fully disconnect from your office. With workplace apps like Slack and email readily available on our phones, we’re constantly reminded of work we still have to do.
There are, however, plenty of ways to quell this anxiety by making a few lifestyle changes. By being mindful of how you spend your Sundays and trying things like avoiding alcohol, hitting the gym or unplugging from your phone, you can stop feeling the Sunday Scaries and instead go into Monday motivated.
