1. Accessible and helpful customer service

The number one factor I look for is accessible and helpful customer service. This includes what time zone they operate in, and whether or not they have web chat (my favourite), phone, email, or video/FAQ links. If I need help, I want to know I’m going to get it, especially if I’m paying for it. The second factor is making sure I actually like or at least respect the provide and what they do and how they operate.  If we don’t get along, see ya, there are plenty of other fish in the sea providing a same or similar service that I probably will get on with.

2. Clarity, responsiveness, and the ability to anticipate needs

As a marketing agency owner myself, the number one factor I look for when choosing a web design and support partner is alignment, not just in aesthetics, but in communication, process, and long-term vision. A successful partnership depends on having a team that understands your business goals, asks the right questions, and can translate strategy into execution without constant hand-holding. Technical skill matters, but clarity, responsiveness, and the ability to anticipate needs are what turn a service provider into a true partner.

As an entrepreneur, the most important factor I consider when choosing a web design and support service is reliability. The number one factor I look for in a web design and support partner is responsiveness, not talent, not awards, not fancy mockups. If I send a message and they reply three days later, that’s a preview of every nightmare to come. A slow agency will kill your momentum quicker than a bad design ever will. I want someone who treats updates, fixes, and tweaks like a living system, not a once-a-year chore. I learned early on that speed beats perfection in the digital world, if they can’t move fast, they’re not the right partner for me.

5. Seamless integration into operational workflows

At iMoving, our biggest lesson in choosing a web design and support partner was realizing it’s not just about aesthetics or flashy features, it's about seamless integration into our operational workflows. I'd say someone who does “not” push too much. Be genuine and realistic in your approach. A good partner focuses on who you are and what you are trying to accomplish. And they deliver the results to the story you want told. IOW, don't come at me with how cheap your resources are. There's a lot of blanket emails out there – “I can deliver sales calls”. “I can give you free leads until you close a sale”. “How would you feel if I opened up 10 leads a month for you”.
