10 Google Business Profile Optimization Tips

  1. Local search is the low-hanging fruit and niche even for national brands. Even if you want to show up nationally remember that local is probably less competitive AND national does include local. Just remember to remove your address when creating your profile if you don't want potential clients and customers to come to your location(s).
  2. People are searching “near me” so make sure that you are optimizing pages and posts for that too.
  3. Get reviews for your Google Business Profile – the more you have the more likely you are to rank higher
  4. Think about how people are searching for your business – It many not be how you think. But yourself in the “shoe” of someone that doesn't know your business and your services as well.
  5. Make sure you optimize your profile for the areas you serve. Get out the map and start to layout as many of the areas as you can serve.
  6. Don't be afraid to invest in your website storefront (i.e. your website). Often potential clients will drill down more by clicking on your site and reading reviews aka doing homework before they try to contact you.
  7. Use original photos (stock if you have to) but make sure you are showing the true value that you are providing to your target market
  8. Make sure you post on your page any offers
  9. Find your review link and create a vanity link if easier to get reviews
  10. Complete your profile this includes reviews, descriptions, additional categories, offers, and pictures – optimizing your page and completing your page are often synonymous. Yes, you want to make sure you are maximizing your ranking BUT the number of profiles that aren't updated or maintained is huge.
